Bellevue has in recent years emerged as a regional medical center. Numerous clinics and specialty medical providers serve the Bellevue community. The Overlake Hospital Medical Center is the region's pre-eminent medical center, located in downtown Bellevue.
Group Health Cooperative and Overlake Hospital Medical Center recently announced their intention to provide collaborative health care and inpatient hospital services to East King County residents.
During the next four years, Group Health will invest $110 million to design, construct and operate the new center. Group Health's comprehensive specialty center and Overlake's new inpatient tower are both expected to open in early 2007. Through this arrangement, Overlake Hospital will serve an additional 6,292 inpatients and 16,462 outpatients per year.
